Seaman Medical: Who We Are

She worked as a professional translator, editor, and teacher for 15 years in Japan and the US before founding Seaman Medical, Inc. Lee began developing the 3Cs™ concepts in 2011, and authored International Medical Writing: English for a Global Audience with Tom Lang in 2019. Her goal is effective documents that can be read quickly and understood accurately.

About Our Company
Seaman Medical was founded by Lee Seaman in July 2000, to meet the growing need for high-quality, accurate, readable medical translation from Japanese to English. As business increased and more clients requested editing as well as translation, we began to incorporate basic principles of effective medical editing, and to offer workshops on creating readable medical translations.
By 2015, our clients were sending projects that required both micro and macro editing, medical writing, document organization, and reference management. As we developed those skills, we also continued to work closely with our clients to help them improve their own English medical writing, and in 2019 we published International Medical Writing: English for a Global Audience.
Today we continue to provide writing support through
- In-person and online seminars on medical writing for Asian authors
- Consultation on publication strategies and international presentations in English
- Medical translation from Japanese to English
- Micro and macro editing
- Medical writing based on the client’s outline and reference materials
